Bidad (فیلم بیداد)Bidad is a 2025 Iranian social drama written, directed, and produced by Soheil Beiraghi. The film follows a determined young singer who refuses to abandon her dream of performing and having her voice heard.
Seti has a deep passion for music, but social restrictions prevent her from performing publicly. Instead of remaining silent, she begins singing in the streets of Tehran, turning ordinary public spaces into her personal stage.
Her spontaneous performances attract enthusiastic audiences, and recordings of her singing quickly spread online. As Seti becomes increasingly popular, she emerges as an inspiring figure for young people who share her desire for freedom and self-expression.
However, her growing visibility also brings serious consequences. Seti must navigate pressure from authorities, disagreements within her family, and the personal risks created by her public actions. Her journey develops into a story about courage, identity, love, and the importance of being heard.
The film combines social drama, romance, and moments of tension to present a portrait of a young woman challenging the limitations placed upon her.
Sarvin Zabetian stars as Seti, supported by Amir Jadidi and Leili Rashidi. Peyman Shadmanfar served as cinematographer, while Bamdad Afshar composed the music.
Produced independently by Alef Pictures, Bidad had its world premiere in the Crystal Globe Competition at the 2025 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. It received the festival’s Special Jury Prize.
Bidad is recommended for viewers interested in contemporary Iranian cinema and character-driven stories about artistic expression and personal freedom. Its energetic central performance and modern urban setting create an engaging drama about a new generation determined to make its voice heard.
