Haft Rooz (فیلم هفت روز) Seven Days is a Persian-language drama directed by Ali Samadi Ahadi and written by acclaimed filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof. The film explores family separation, personal responsibility, and the difficult choices created by a life devoted to social change.
The story begins in 1976 in Bandar Anzali. Iran lives peacefully with her husband, Rafie, and their young son, Arash. As political unrest grows, a series of painful events destroys the family’s quiet life. Iran eventually leaves her hometown and begins a new chapter in Tehran.
Years later, during the final period of the Iran–Iraq War, Iran supports herself by sewing wedding dresses. While coping with the effects of war and earlier losses, she meets a young boy whose unexpected connection to her family reveals a long-hidden secret.
The final part of the story takes place in 2005. Iran is older, but the consequences of the past continue to influence her life. When someone close to her faces serious trouble, she must confront an influential figure she once knew and uncover difficult truths about her husband’s fate.
Vishka Asayesh plays Maryam, while Majid Bakhtiari portrays her husband, Behnam. The cast also includes Tanaz Molaei, Melika Foroutan, and Sam Vafa.
Produced in Germany in 2024, the film combines elements of family drama and a tense escape story. Its intimate approach keeps the focus on Maryam’s relationships and the consequences of her final decision.
Seven Days may appeal to viewers interested in emotional, character-driven dramas about family, freedom, and moral responsibility. The film avoids easy answers and instead presents the human cost of choosing between loved ones and deeply held beliefs.
