At the End of the Night: An Iranian Relationship Drama

در-انتهای-شب

Dar Entehaye Shab Serial (در انتهای شب سریال) At the End of the Night (Dar Entehaye Shab) is a nine-part Iranian drama written by Aida Panahandeh and Arsalan Amiri and directed by Panahandeh. The series presents an intimate and realistic portrait of a marriage affected by financial pressure, disappointment, and emotional distance.

Story

Mahrokh and her husband have spent years working and saving to purchase an apartment outside Tehran. Owning a home should represent stability and progress, but the financial burden surrounding their new life intensifies problems that have been developing within their marriage.

Unable to resolve their differences, the couple decide to separate. Their divorce is not presented as the end of the story but as the beginning of a more complicated stage. Both must adapt to new responsibilities, changing relationships, and the emotional consequences of dismantling a life they built together.

Their young son, Dara, is also affected by the separation. While his parents struggle to understand what went wrong, he must adjust to moving between different members of the family. His experience demonstrates how marital conflict can influence a child even when both parents believe they are making reasonable decisions.

The series uses flashbacks to reveal earlier moments from the couple’s relationship. These memories allow viewers to see that their separation was not caused by a single argument. Instead, financial anxiety, unrealised ambitions, daily frustration, and failures of communication gradually weakened their connection.

Cast and Production

The series stars Parsa Pirouzfar and Hoda Zeinolabedin as the central couple. Its supporting cast includes Sahar Goldoost, Pedram Sharifi, Alireza Davoudnejad, Reza Behboudi, Rayan Sarlak, Nasrin Nosrati, Nahid Moslemi, and Siamak Safari. Mohammad Yamini serves as producer.

The story is told across nine episodes and combines family, social, and romantic drama. Its restrained style keeps the focus on ordinary conversations, emotional reactions, and the practical consequences of divorce.

Why Watch It?

At the End of the Night may appeal to viewers who prefer realistic, character-driven stories about marriage and modern family life. Rather than offering simple heroes or villains, it examines how two people can care about each other while becoming unable to continue living together.
